I was born in Japan and grew up watching my family run a patchwork shop for over 40 years. I am privileged to have inherited a strong passion for Japanese textiles and craftsmanship: these aren't just interests for me.

When I moved to Australia, I brought that heritage with me. I started Patchwork Ninja 16 years ago to share Japanese craft traditions with Australian sewists who love textiles as much as I do. First through beautiful Japanese fabrics and supplies, and then through something I'd dreamed of for years: taking people back to Japan to experience real, genuine and traditional Japanese crafts.

Over the last 40 years, we have built strong connections with the Japanese sewing industry and Japanese Craft Master Senseis (artisans). On our tours, you will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn their secret knowledge, because they do not open their classes to the general public. They are not just teachers, and these are not tourist workshops: they are real artisans who have inherited their craftsmanship over hundreds of years.
